Are you or is someone you love afraid to go to the dentist? If past dental experience has left you fearful or anxious about undergoing dental procedures or made you reluctant to change the appearance of your smile, sedation dentistry can make you free from anxiety and fear.
With sleep and sedation dentistry, your visit is as easy as taking a nap. All you do is take a pill, and let us fix up your smile. Using a safe oral medication, you can sleep through your treatment and what is more, you won’t even remember the visit.
We offer several sedition options and are focused on your comfort.
Oral sedation is a means to provide a more relaxed and anxiety-free dental treatment experience. Oral sedation dentistry is now the most common technique used to control patient fears. Best of all, the medications create such a comfortable experience that most patients do not remember the visit; it is as if they slept through the treatment. However, oral sedation does maintain a level of consciousness in the patient for safety and cooperation.
We offer conscious sedation with Xanax, Valium or Halcion to ensure a comfortable visit with much less stress. For patients undergoing longer treatment cases, such as veneers, we offer a complimentary town car pick up and delivery service.
Nitrous oxide (laughing gas)
While some forms of sedation (such as nitrous oxide gas) may raise your threshold for pain, most dental treatments still require a local anesthetic injected in the mouth, even when sedation dentistry techniques are performed. This local anesthetic will temporarily block pain impulses from the affected teeth and gum tissue. However, this injection will occur after you are already sedated and comfortable; it is likely you will not be bothered by or remember the sensation of having the injection. One of the major benefits of sedation dentistry is that people often feel like their dental procedure lasted only a few minutes, when in fact it might have taken hours to perform. Therefore, complex dental procedures such as smile makeovers or full mouth restoration normally requiring multiple visits are performed in fewer appointments.
It is very important to have a responsible caregiver accompany you to the procedure (and drive you there, as you generally take oral medication before arriving for your appointment). The caregiver should drive you home after the procedure is complete and stay with you for an additional two to four hours at home.
Our highly-trained staff go to great lengths to reduce your anxiety and make your dental experience more relaxing and fun, and with far less fear. We take the time to listen to what you want and what your needs are, explain available treatment options and clarify dental treatment procedures in easy to understand terms. Each member of staff has completed comprehensive Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training and is extremely well-trained in the most up-to-date sterilization & infection control procedures and standards. All staff members are required to attend a variety of advanced training classes to improve their skill sets throughout the year.
We provide headphones if the sound of the drill bothers you, so feel free to bring your iPod, MP3 player or favorite CD to your treatment. We also play rock and roll with individual volume controls in each dental operatory. Our practice features the most recent advances in dental technology and we provide all the available comforts - extremely comfortable, soft leather chairs, cozy blankets, pillows and warm, lemon scented towels.
